Description:
Dominic Agent was born in Pennsylvania in 1927. He is known for his lyrical operas and choral works. Professor emeritus of music at the University of Minnesota, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1975. A serious atmosphere dominates the program as it begins with an unusual unaccompanied song. But when the next conversational duet between Oliga and Chekhov begins, the atmosphere becomes that of a small chamber opera. Petrarch has an interesting combination of classical lyrics and modern music, and Bloomberg's singing is superb. The cabaret songs are a bit more relaxed, but Zabala's singing has no flaws, and the quality of the songs comes through straight away. The order and selection of songs are well thought out.
