Pianist Ekaterina Litvintseva, born in 1986 in Magadan, a town on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, is on her fifth disc. She studied with Irina Gavrilova, Alexander Mundoyants, and Ekaterina Derzhavina. Her performance is characterized by an imposing performance style that does not match her young age. Litvinzeva gave 13 concerts of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Bonn Classical Philharmonic conducted by Heribert Beissel in 2017. This album is a live recording of those concerts. The live recording is said to have been made with the utmost care and concentration, as it is a very difficult piece that requires a great deal of physical strength and energy. The big, resonant volume and passionate enthusiasm are attractive, but Bizel's skillful backup is also noteworthy. It is a splendid symphony. King International
