Description:

Enjoy Jack Nitschke Magic! Rare and exclusive collection of work from 1963-1969 on analog release! Includes 18 tracks from hard-to-find titles to must-have items, including some never before released! ! In the late summer of 1963, REPRISE RECORDS, the independent record company that Frank Sinatra had founded three years earlier, ran into some financial difficulties, partly due to its failure to produce major chart hits, and was acquired by Warner Brothers. So Morris "Mo" Austin, vice president and general manager of REPRISE, brought in "maverick" producer Jimmy Bowen in 1963. Bowen's main job initially was to record newcomers and produce hits for REPRISE's young artists, including arranger/producer Jack Nitze. From July 1963 to October 1965, the REPRISE singles produced by Bowen were released under Jack Nitsche's own name, and were compiled and released for the first time as "THE REPRISE SINGLES 1963-1965" from Hanky Panky Records here. and released here on Hanky Panky Records for the first time as THE REPRISE SINGLES 1963-1965. The focus of this new collection is a collection of Jack Nitsche's work as arranger and producer of those hopeful REPRISE songs from 1963 to 1969. The number of records Nitschke supervised in some form or another during this period spans not only REPRISE and Warner Brothers, but countless other labels as well, many of which were featured in Ken Burns' legendary interview with Nitschke in the Winter '76/77 issue of WHO PUT THE BOMP! magazine, " THE ARRANGER AS SUPERMAN," which is being collected for the first time. The purpose of this compilation is to present a selection of hard-to-find and popular titles from Nitschke's Warner/REPRISE works, along with track-by-track commentary by Burns himself, as mentioned above.Backing musicians include Wrecking Crew regulars David Gates, Ellie Greenwich, Carole King, Gerry Goffin, P.F. Sloan, Steve Barrie, Sharon Seeley, Jackie DeShannon, Sonny Bono, Hal David, Burt Bacharach, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, the Everly Brothers, and many more! Also included are songs composed by Nitze and recorded by Burt Bacharach.
