Including some of Monteverdi's best works from his days as music director of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, the "Four-Voice Mass and Psalm Collection," published posthumously in 1950, is truly one of the pinnacles of his art. The sopranos, led by Erin Manahan Thomas and Grace Davidson, are the most outstanding of all the parts of The Sixteen. The superb harmonies create a masterpiece of Monteverdi's religious music.
