Horizon 9, the Concertgebouw's series on music of our time, features four commissioned works, including a tribute to BernsteinThe ninth collection in Horizon, the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's series on music of our time, features the world premieres of four commissioned works. Two of the works, "Boundless" by young Dutch composer Uij Laukens and "Amerique du Nord" by Richard Reinfoss, were composed as a tribute to 20th century master Leonard Bernstein, who celebrated his 100th birthday in 2018. Eötvös's work "Multiversum," on the other hand, has an organ and Hammond organ, and he plays it himself. The concerto by Estonian composer Erikki-Sven Thur features the Concertgebouw piccoloist Vincent Kortvlint as soloist. The title "Solastalgia Solastalgia" was coined by Australian environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht to express anguish and melancholy at the thought that the land he had become familiar with might be transformed by war or environmental destruction.The conductors are also notable with Alan Gilbert, Gustavo Jimeno, and Stéphane Denève.
