Description:

Richter and Muti's live performance at the Florence May Festival is now available on LP! RICCARDO MUTI MUSIC RECORDINGS is pleased to announce the LP release of two Mozart piano concertos performed by Richter and Muti at the Florence May Festival. This is the LP version of the CD released on MAGGIO LIVE. Richter and Muti recorded the Schumann concertos live with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in August 1972, Beethoven's 3rd Symphony with the Philharmonia Orchestra in 1977, and Mozart's 22nd Symphony in 1979, both of which are highly acclaimed recordings. Two new recordings have been added to the collection that are no less excellent. The young Muti was said to have been intimidated by the prospect of performing with the great master, and asked Richter, "Is it all right for someone like me to play with you? Richter played Mozart's 15th and Britten's Piano Concerto in two piano versions with Muti and said, "You are a great musician if you conduct as you play the piano. It is said that he was told, "If you conduct as you play the piano, you are a great musician. It is said that he was the guest of honor at Muti's wedding in 1968. Because of this relationship, Muti's conducting is also full of seriousness and intensity, and his dramatic, operatic music-making in No. 24 and other works draws the audience in. The recording is monaural but clear. The Piano Concerto No. 27 is typical "Richter in the groove," with a calm tempo, beautiful touch, and singing spirit. He even repeated the third movement as an encore in response to the audience's enthusiasm. This is a limited pressing of 1,000 copies. King International
