The Escher String Quartet, an American quartet based in New York, recorded Mendelssohn's complete string quartets. The third and final recording includes String Quartets Nos. 5 & 6 with Capriccio and Fugue from Four Pieces for String Quartet, Op. 81 The quartet has been remarkably successful in recent years, including winning the 2013 Avery Fischer Career Grant, and has given successful concerts around the world. The ensemble's neat and clean style is a perfect match for Mendelssohn's music, which has been well received.
