Description:

Continuing in the tradition of Blue Note Records, which in its 80-year history has been hailed as the home of leading jazz musicians, ARTEMIS, a supergroup comprised of seven of the most acclaimed musicians in contemporary jazz, has The self-titled debut album is released. The group features pianist and musical director Renee Rosnes, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana, clarinetist Anat Cohen, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, bassist Noriko Ueda, drummer Allison Miller, and ARTEMIS, with featured vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant, visionary bandleader and composer, this septet is a powerful voice. The band was formed three years ago at the suggestion of Rosnes for a European festival tour. He says, "I chose musicians I admire and want to make music with. After playing together, we realized we had great chemistry. That's how Artemis was born," he commented. The group is unique not only because of its seven unique artists, but also because of its multi-generational, global lineup, which includes members from the United States, Canada, France, Chile, Israel, and Japan. Each member of ARTEMIS has a unique personality and the diversity needed in a band." That's what makes life interesting and music engaging." Cohen commented. Jensen, who invented the band's name, explained, "The Greek goddess Artemis is an explorer, torchbearer, protector of young children, and goddess of the hunt." I feel that her character symbolizes the energy and broad musical tapestry that the band Artemis brings to the moon, the stars, and beyond."Although they have only been together for three years, they have already been featured in Vanity Fair and NPR's Jazz Night in America, and have performed on some of America's leading stages, from Carnegie Hall and the Tisch Center for the Arts at 92Y to the Newport Jazz Festival. The band has performed on some of America's leading stages, from Carnegie Hall and the 92Y Tisch Center for the Arts to the Newport Jazz Festival. This is a stunning nine-song set featuring compositions written and arranged by each of the band's six instrumentalists, and ARTEMIS unfolds in a dynamic flow that is surprisingly diverse, yet cohesive throughout. The group's identity came organically," Rosnes said, and ARTEMIS found a vision for the band that thrills early in its lifespan. The band is made up of seven leaders with a strong personal point of view, but with a unified concept. "180g weight LP.
