Commonalities and personalities. masterpiece born in 1773Tronheim Baroque, an ancient instrument ensemble founded in 2009 by conductor Martin Valberg, who is also a Norwegian cellist. highly acclaimed for its main repertoire of 17th-8th century works, in 2018 the ensemble was renamed Orkelter Nord to explore further possibilities. This time the focus is on the year 1773, juxtaposing works by Mozart and Grétry made in that year. Mozart was 17 years old at the time. His two most famous works are Symphony No. 25, known as "Little G minor," and "Tamos, King of Egypt," which is said to be the root of his later masterpiece, "The Magic Flute." Both are brilliant and remind us of Mozart's genius. Meanwhile, at the age of 31, Grétry had established an operatic comic style that combined lightness and seriousness, and was enjoying smooth sailing in his creative activities. Both of these purely orchestral works, created in the same year, share a similarity in strength and brilliance, but they also trace the new evolution of French stage music into symphonic music.
