Sivelov, Niklas (1968-)

Description:

Two symphonies by Swedish pianist and composer Niklas Sievelev, who studied organ from age 6, switched to piano at 14, and entered the Royal Conservatory of Music in Stockholm at age 17, where he studied composition and piano. His First Symphony, written in 2013, was inspired by the birth of his son, who was born in the same year, and is a colorful work that evokes the landscape of his native northern Sweden and the influence of Sibelius. It is a colorful music with a powerful percussion section and piano. It features a powerful percussion section and piano part, intense rhythmic exchanges, and a brass chorale. Symphony No. 5 is a "concerto for orchestra. The two movements proceed at a leisurely Adagio tempo, and the music develops in a quiet, introspective manner. The theme of the second movement is based on a jazz ballad he composed for his cat, and the blues-influenced harmonies are pleasant to the ear. Naxos Japan
