This is a collection of works by American contemporary composer Joan Tower (1938-). Tower, who is highly acclaimed throughout the world as the first woman to win the "Grosmayer Prize" (in the composition category), which has been awarded to such distinguished composers as Toru Takemitsu and Boulez, has always been an excellent pianist, and in recent years she has been particularly focusing on chamber music. Each of the four works on this album was commissioned by a different organization, but they are all filled with her passion. Recorded in 2015. (C)RS
