Description:

[Lars Forkt's memories overlaid on Brahms... Christian and Tanya Tetzlaff, who performed with Lars Forkert (1970-2022), have organized this album to commemorate their friendship with Forkert. The program was assembled with a hint of Brahms, whom Forkt admired, and the friendship that surrounded him. Brahms' "Double Concerto" was his last orchestral work, and the piece, which Brahms said he wrote "for eight strings," was also the piece that led to his reconciliation with his close friend Joseph Joachim, with whom he had once broken off their friendship. The decision was made to record the piece to commemorate the enduring friendship between Lars and Josef Joachim. The second piece is Viotti's Violin Concerto, a piece that Brahms had highly appreciated. Brahms was so taken by Joachim's performance of the A minor concerto that he wrote an enthusiastic letter to Clara Schumann, quoting the melody in the double concerto, which Tetzlaff also played as a sign of their friendship. The final piece, "Silence of the Forest," is a testament of friendship from Tanya. In addition to the friendship between Dvořák and Brahms, Tanya, who describes this piece as "the most wonderful and beautiful little gem for cello," chose it as the perfect piece to express her own grief, loss and love. The Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin will be conducted by Paavo Järvi, who was also a close friend of Lars Forkt. The orchestra supports the Tetzlaff siblings with a flawless performance.
