Description:
Adam Skomal is a pianist and composer from the Czech Republic. He has performed with numerous orchestras and appeared at summer music festivals, and since 2012 he has been teaching piano and chamber music at the Prague Conservatory. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, where he won second prize at the Prague Spring International Competition in 1998. He studied in the U.S. and since then has won prizes in competitions in Italy and the U.S. His highly acclaimed performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, which he performed in Carlsbad in 2001, led to the recording of this album. He fully demonstrates his own outstanding pianism by combining Rachmaninoff, who was his best at that time, Bach's "Harpsichord Concerto" arranged by Busoni, and Bach's Partita for Solo Violin, which Rachmaninoff also arranged.
