At the end of the 17th century, Ireland lost the war against England. The aristocrats who had protected the foundations of the culture were exterminated or forced to flee the country, and it is said that Irish music lost its defenders and its traditions were cut off. Musicians did not die easily, however, as Scottish and Irish music became popular in London from time to time in the 18th century, and the melodies of legendary composers were published in sheet music.
