Folklore is the Spanish reading of the English word Folklore. Originally it meant "folklore," but for some reason in South American countries it has come to mean "popular music" incorporating traditional elements. This album traces the history of the SP era, when folklore as such popular music was at its most brilliant. It travels from Peru to Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and various other countries in South America, and introduces rare sound sources, including many world-first reprints. From Carlos Gardale singing folklore to early recordings of Peruvian, Bolivian, and Chilean music, to the impact of Yupanqui's appearance, to rare early recordings of "The Condor Flies Away," "Maidens of the Sun," "Flower Festival," and more.
