Franklin Kiamayer’s latest album, a masterful continuation of the legacy established by the Coltrane Quartet! Franklin Kiamayer, a spiritual drummer and composer best known for his collaborations with the late Pharoah Sanders (the great saxophonist), is releasing his 11th album, *Scatter the Atoms That Remain*. The new album features a host of mavericks from the jazz world, including Isaiah Collier, Keion Harold, Jasbir Jassi, Aaron Parks, Linda Sikahane, Carlos Niño, and Jeff Basker. While touching on themes such as the current state of the world and social and geopolitical conditions, the album ultimately transcends into a celebration of love, kindness, and meditative understanding. In the lead single “OneisLove,” centered around a poem written by Franklin, he and saxophonist Isaiah Collier trade passionate, explosive phrases, while Davis Whitefield on piano and Otto Gardner on bass add dramatic, heartfelt emotion. The instruments are played as if weaving between tension and harmony, and in the final section, all the musicians and the Temitope Momolebe Gospel Singers come together as one to sing “OneisLove.”
