This recording features the August 22, 1986, concert in Stockholm, Sweden, from the “Parade Tour,” which was Prince & The Revolution’s final tour. Things were looking grim for this tour even before it began; due to various misunderstandings and troubles, the band was on the verge of breaking up, and the other members had to persuade several members who were considering withdrawing from the tour to stay on. At the peak of his career following the success of *Purple Rain*, Prince produced the 1986 film *Under the Cherry Moon* and released *Parade* as its soundtrack. Although the film was a huge flop, the album was a massive hit, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. In stark contrast to the rock-oriented *Purple Rain*, *Parade* was a funky album, and the tour—even for Prince, who toured almost every year—featured the strongest R&B and funk elements of his career. The tour began with 11 North American shows—dubbed the “Hit n’ Run Tour”—held from March 3 through August 1986. It was a leisurely start, with only about one to three shows per month—if you could even call it a tour. Things really picked up in August, beginning with shows at Madison Square Garden on August 2 and 3, followed by three days at London’s Wembley Arena from August 12 to 14. After touring various European countries, the tour concluded with a series of concerts in Japan from September 5 to 9, bringing the Revolution’s history to a close. This Stockholm concert took place right in the middle of the tour and was recorded for a local radio station. Although the band’s internal dynamics weren’t ideal at the time, the Revolution lineup during this period—including Wendy and Lisa—was at its best, and their performance here is exceptionally polished and magnificent.
