The Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir takes you on a journey around the world in folksong. A journey through the world of for-songs that takes you through different periods of classical music history in song. It tells a story of praise for lovers and beloved ones. The musical journey in this album takes us all over the world, beginning with the Italian Renaissance and the French Pavane (stately court dance). Many popular German folk songs are also performed, especially "The Wedding of the Little Bird" and "Come, Let Us Cross the Lake," some of which have been specially arranged for this release. Scandinavia's "Who Sails Without Wind" and "Aurora Borealis," Poland's "Myronzarnia," Hungary's "Hey, Dance," Japan's "Summer" and "Hotaruko Koi"), America's "Shenandoah" and "Enjoy My Calypso"), and of course, without the world famous "Haba Nagila", With over 50 years of history, the Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir is one of the most famous and most successful children's choirs in Germany. Currently about 140 children belong to the choir and sing in a variety of formations.The ongoing collaboration with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra also provides an opportunity for the children of the choir to be exposed directly to professional musical activities and contributes to their understanding of the diversity of music. The choir's repertoire includes works from the Renaissance to the 21st century and is constantly expanding. The choir has won numerous awards in national and international competitions and hosts the International Children's Choral Festival in its home city of Dresden. The vocal ensemble "Amacorda" was founded in 1992 by members from the St. Thomas' Boys Choir in Leipzig and continues to be one of the world's leading vocal ensembles. The ensemble is characterized not only by its unique tone, breathtaking homogeneity, and musical authenticity, but also by its overflowing charm and humor. The repertoire is vast and varied, ranging from medieval monophonic chants, madrigals, and Renaissance masses to European Romantic and 20th century works, arrangements of a cappella folk songs from around the world, and even soul music and jazz. Along with the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the St. Thomas Boys' Choir, the group is a representative of the Leipzig music scene, attracting attention both in Germany and abroad.Numerous concert tours have taken them to more than 50 countries and they have performed in almost every corner of the world.
