A complete collection of the rare works of Louis Ferdinand von Preußen, who was renowned for his musical talent as well as his skill as a strategist and who died during the Napoleonic Wars Rare recordings originally released by the niche THOROFON label have been reissued as a set by HAENSSLER. This is a complete collection of the works of Louis Ferdinand von Preußen. Louis Ferdinand von Preußen (1772–1806) was a member of the Prussian royal family and a renowned military figure. He became a legendary figure after dying young on the battlefield in 1806, yet he was also highly regarded as a composer during his lifetime and is known as the person to whom Beethoven dedicated his Piano Concerto No. 3. Although his works were gradually forgotten during the 19th century, they began to attract renewed attention following a performance of his String Quartet in E-flat minor by R. Strauss in 1906. While the surviving works are limited to the 13 pieces that were published, his style is both refined and emotionally rich. One can sense his talent in the musical phrasing that hints at the transition from the Classical to the Romantic era. HAENSSLER
