Bruckner's "Exercises", "Waltzes" and "Polkas"! Amazing Unpublished Piano Music! Bruckner's piano music is represented by Noriko Shirakami's BIS disc of seven published solo pieces, but Bruckner also created other small piano pieces from his youth. Many of them are unfinished or illegible and incomplete, but facsimile editions of the autograph scores are available. These are finally being released as world premiere recordings, much to the delight of those involved with Bruckner. In addition to the seven works on the Shirakami disc, there are two works for four hands, but the rest of the works are unknown. The titles of the works are not typical of Bruckner, such as "Exercises," "Waltzes," and "Polkas," which is quite astonishing. The majority of the works are short pieces, lasting less than a minute or so, with little character reminiscent of his later symphonies, but they are all familiar in the Schubertian or classical style. It is fascinating to see how the symphonic composer Bruckner grew up to be born. Ana-Marija Markovina is a Croatian pianist born in 1970. She studied with Ugorski and Badura-Skoda and is based in Germany as of 2018.He has attracted attention for his ambitious repertoire, which includes the complete piano works of Wolf as well as the complete clavier works of C.P.E.
