The Gringolts Quartet's overwhelmingly technical and richly expressive performance of the string quartets of Schoenberg, the founder of twelve-tone music, on SACD hybrid disc. Ilya Gringolts is a gifted violinist from Russia. She is not only a soloist, but also actively involved in chamber music and has made many recordings with her own quartet. Schoenberg, one of the most influential composers of the 20th century as a pioneer of twelve-tone music, began experimenting with atonal music around 1908, and his String Quartet No. 2 is the first of his works. The work is in four movements, with a soprano in the third movement, "Chain", and the fourth movement, "Exile". and the fourth movement, "The Exile". The arrangement for strings (1929) is also available. Schoenberg fled to the United States in 1933 to avoid the rise of the Nazis. The String Quartet No. 4 is a work from his time in the U.S., and it is possible to hear Schoenberg's uncanny and incisive music.The Gringolts Quartet's outstanding technique and expressiveness make it a pleasure to hear these two pieces, which are also important for understanding the great achievements of Schoenberg, who was a standard-bearer of twelve-tone music throughout his life. Ilya Gringolts became world famous at the age of 16 when he won the Paganini International Violin Competition. She has since made her CD debut with Paganini's Concerto No. 1 (BIS999), and has received critical acclaim for her solo violin cycle (BIS1051), which includes Ysaÿe's Ballade, etc. The BIS label has released the first collection of Stravinsky's violin works (BISSA2245), the start of a highly anticipated series of recordings.
