Ancient elegance of recorder and cornet. Daniel Sperl (1636-1707) was a German Baroque composer and flute player. He was not only a musician, but also a writer of adventure stories and a political commentator. This is a remarkable recording of his works played on period instruments. Capella Itineris is a recorder and cornet ensemble formed in 2016 by fellow Basel Schola Cantorum members. The name of the group, which means "journey," was inspired by their two-week trip on foot from Basel to Lausanne, which led to the formation of the group, which calls itself "an ensemble of ancient music and travel. Except for the religious music of Sperl, the rest of the group is full of a unique sense of humor and satire that is very intriguing.
