The French female cellist continues to captivate audiences with her delicate and full sound and music, as well as with her elaborate concept CDs. The theme of this year's concert is London. London has been home to many musicians in the past, and many of them have been active in the city.In the 1700s, there were so many musicians in London, including Handel, Geminiani (famous as a violinist, but also important in the history of cello music because of his Cello Sonata, op. 5), and Porpora (teacher of Farinelli and Haydn, who in his later years turned away from opera, discovered the vocal qualities of the cello tone, and completed the wonderful In the late 1920s and early 1930s, the city was crowded with musicians, including Porpora (a teacher of Farinelli and Haydn, who in his later years turned away from opera to discover the vocal qualities of the cello and complete a wonderful cello concerto). Oswald, a native of Scotland, moved to London and was a cellist, but he was also available as a composer for George III and wrote many works based on Scottish folk songs. Geminiani also wrote works with a strong flavor of English folk songs. Gaillard and Pulcinella have tailored these lively and frenetic works of London at that time into an evening concert and presented them to us.Gaillard's tone is enchanting, and the aria from Handel's "Alcina" by Piau, who also guest-stars, is wonderful! The guest participation of the splendid vocalists also makes this one of the most gorgeous recordings of all time! King International
