THE ROUTES
Description:
The Routes, which arranged the songs of Kraftwerk and Buzzcocks with surf music, is going to Joy Division this time. The name of the album is "Surfin' Pleasures". The Routes have been working on a series of "tributes" to Joy Division, rather than just covers. They only take subtle hints of melody and rhythm from the original songs and reinterpret and rearrange them in their own unique way, playing Joy Division's music in a different musical style with respect and love. The Routes' style is to perform Joy Division's music in a different musical style with respect and love. On "Surfin' Pleasures," 12 classic Joy Division songs are interpreted, reinterpreted, and rearranged as 60s surf guitar instrumentals. The Ventures, Dick Dale, The Shadows, Trashmen, Takeshi Terauchi, Link Wray, The Surfaris, and The Astronauts are some of the most representative images. This wild surf music will take you on a journey around the world. A Means To An End" and "Ice Age" take us to the background music of 60's drag racing movies, "Transmission" takes us to the classic Astronauts sound, and "Digital" takes us to an arrangement reminiscent of a beach party. Of course, you don't have to be a fan of Joy Division or surf music to enjoy these pieces; all music fans will enjoy them. The record cover is a collaboration between British design icons "Peter Saville" and "Malcolm Garrett" and is a remake of Peter Saville's design for Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures". Reminiscent of Bridget Riley's Op Art, the lines on this cover are not strong radio waves, but the sound waves of a reverb tank (which you will hear if you listen to the album.) Joy Division is a sublime artist. Will this album be a blasphemy or will it be sublimated in a new interpretation? The decision is yours! One thing is for sure, The Routes has released another mind-blowing future cult classic to the world!
