The Jan Halbeck Quartet has been active in the Danish jazz scene for nearly 20 years and enjoys immense popularity. (Since their second album, *Copenhagen Nocturne* (STUCD11042), released in 2011, the lineup has consisted of Henrik Gunde (p), Eske Nohr (b), and Anas Holm (ds).) The five albums released by StuntRecords since 2008 have recorded top-tier sales figures among Danish instrumental jazz releases over the past decade, with streaming plays exceeding 25 million. As the title of their 2026 album, *Conversation*, suggests, at the heart of this work lies the deep mutual understanding and interplay among the members, cultivated through years of touring and rehearsals. Jan Halbeck’s tenor saxophone speaks like a human voice, bringing thoughtful warmth and emotional depth. The tracks featured are original melodies composed specifically for the group, possessing a sound that is generous and approachable, yet tinged with a certain melancholy.
