Purcell (1659-1695)
Description:
Among the vocal music genre of the Parcel Baroque, in which the best of the French-speaking world gather around Guyon, a talented countertenor, many of the best pieces are of moderate length and substantial, just like German church cantatas and French grand motets. The music is performed by several singers and ensembles with lyrics based on poems dedicated to a nobleman.) In particular, the works of Henry Purcell, who appeared like a comet during the restoration of the monarchy in the latter half of the 17th century, established great popularity during his short life of just over 35 years, and was praised as the "English Orpheus. From the 24 works written for the English royal family in the 1680s and 90s, three works composed in the mid-1680s were carefully selected, and the audience will be able to enjoy the charm of these works with a tight formation of one soloist for each part, except for the bass part, which is decorated with a variety of instruments, and two singers for each part, both solo and chorus. Le Banque Celeste is an old music ensemble led by countertenor Damien Guillon. As with the previous Bach recordings released by ALPHA, Purcell's fresh taste shines a new light on the artistry of Bach while clearly presenting the structure of the music in a chamber music-like intimate manner. The elite lineup of singers includes such talented artists as Céline Schön and Benoit Arnoux, who are extremely popular in the world of European baroque opera. The charm of "British music of the generation influenced by French royal music" highlighted by French-speaking instrumentalists on ancient instruments is fascinating, as is the precise use of sound by André Henrich on lute, Brice Saie on harpsichord, and other virtuosos who join the instrumental lineup.
