Joseph Jongen is a Belgian organist and composer. Showing musical talent from an early age, he began composing at the age of 13, and at the age of 24, he won the "Prix de Rome" presided over by the Belgian royal family. He began his career as a composer and teacher. He left behind many works, but is best known today for his organ and chamber music. In 2016, soprano Sarah De Vries unearthed more than 20 previously unpublished songs from Jongen's private archives and presents some of them on this album, including the world premiere recording of "Seven Songs on Poems by Armand Silvestri. The delicate and beautiful songs by Sarah De Vries and British pianist Graig White offer a different world of Jongen's instrumental music. Naxos Japan
