Description:
Church Cantatas of the Bach Family - From the 17th Century Church Concertos to the Great Bach's Youth - [From the Three Masters of the Bach Family to the Masterpieces of the First Period of the Great Bach] The true charm of Baroque vocal music comes alive only when you listen to it with a small group of elite soloists. The new disc by Vox Luminis, an elite group at the forefront of the European classical music world, is a substantial project that explores the history of church cantatas through the works of the great masters of the Bach family, from the time of the great Bach's youth. The orchestra is uncompromisingly 17th-century style, based on the experience of having worked with Schütz, Scheidt, and others, and having also produced a collection of Bach family motets (RIC347). The style of conveying the patterns of sound in an easy-to-understand manner with a maximum of two soloists per part is made possible by the fact that every single performer is a skilled virtuoso. The works of Johann Christoph Bach, whom the great Bach admired in his youth, and his three predecessors include large-scale works that even involve trumpets and timpani, and the different compositions for each piece convey the fascination of 17th century music. In the final performance of Bach's earliest church cantata No. 4, you will be surprised at the finish that gives you a glimpse of the "young Bach born in the 17th century," which is completely different from the chorus-centered interpretation of the cantata.
