Description:

Monoland, a Berlin, Germany band featured in the "Shoegaze Disc Guide", is pleased to announce the long-awaited analog reissue of their classic second album released in 2001, which includes the classic song "Motel Fumatore" that made them famous! Monoland is a four-piece indie band formed in Berlin, Germany in 1996 by vocalist/guitarist Marco Blazajczak, guitarist Henrik Seemann, bassist Matthias Ecker-Erhardt, and drummer Daniel Grinstedt. The band debuted with their first album "Manouva" on Germany's Noiseworks label and released three albums before their third album "Ben Chantice" in 2006. After playing a few gigs with bands such as TAM, Die Art, and Jeans Team, Monoland began recording "Coooning" in 2000.The album was produced in Einst_rzende Neubauten's multiple noise studio with sound engineer Sebastian Fell, using old tapes, MIG-Motors, and a huge bass drum. The album opens with the beautiful A1 "de pale", a flood of noise guitars. A3 "motel fumatore," renowned as one of the supreme songs in the history of shoegaze in the 2000s, is uplifted by the ecstasy of noise guitar and sampling loops that develop dynamically from the intro, and by the three-dimensional rhythm work of the sad melody. A5 "orcin" blends trip-hop and shoegaze sounds. B4 "honolulu," which closes the album with a guitar sound that is a tingling sampling collage, and the entire album is filled with an experimental atmosphere that is typical of the Berlin, Germany native, who is at the center of electronica and dub-techno.This analog reissue also includes the first analog version of "manouva," a representative song from the band's early days, as a bonus track. At the time of its release, "Cooning" was described as sounding similar to My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless". Strangely enough, the cover artwork of the album was similar to the artwork of My Bloody Valentine's "m b v", which was released later in 2013, and it also became a hot topic among shoegaze fans.
