High Vis, a promising new post-punk band from London, has released their second new album, which is a newcomer to the current music scene, establishing a UK post-punk/ Britpop sound in the style of hardcore punk, and imbued with a sense of sonic adventure that suggests they are not bound by preconceived notions. The band is here! Showing that they never intend to be bound by any sense of genre rules and regulations, they have expanded their finders further from their 2019 debut album, which spawned traces of Joy Division, Bauhaus, Crisis, The Cure, and Gang Of Four, to the opening track The band's sound is genre-less, from the anthemic expanse to the psychedelic vortex of the album's title track to the melodic jangle reminiscent of Britpop. Although the sound differs from the band's hardcore punk roots, this work is full of energy and shows an approach that has hardcore spirituality at its core.This work, which adheres to the post-punk genre at a time when the stylistic signifiers between subcultural genres are blurring and one can no longer assume that one is enamored with what one's aesthetic shell suggests, proves how loose and diverse the post-punk genre can be.
