Brazilian rapper born in Sao Paulo, Rise! Debut album "Ella Partiu" to be released on Agogo Records! Rise, a 24-year-old Brazilian rapper born in Sao Paulo, will release his debut album "Ella Partyu" on Agogo Records. The work features Sudanese trap rapper Zeyo Mann, Ghanaian percussionist and singer EricOwusu (Jembaa Groove, Pat Thomas), up-and-coming crew young.vishnu and Pachakuti, and Rise's Rise's label mates The New Love Experience. The content contemplates immigration, drawing from Reis's own complex experiences since he left his São Paulo home at age 14 for the United States and immigrated to Germany in 2018, as well as the experiences of international guest musicians who are artists and immigrants from the southern hemisphere who call Germany their home. The recording took place in the relaxed town of Hildesheim, Reis in 2023. The name of the work is derived from the name of a famous song by one of Rise's heroes in Portuguese, Tim Maia, a tormented soul boy from Brazil in the 1970s. It also translates as "she left," referring to Reis's decision to leave his family home when he was young.There is no doubt that "Ela Partíu" provides a new bridge between Tropicália, Brazilian MPB, and hip-hop, shedding light on Brazil's musical traditions in much the same way that Marcelo D2 and Criolo have tried. Joyful yet raising serious questions, and featuring a group of very talented immigrant musicians from all over the world, this album is more than just a Brazilian record. It is brought to life by talents and travelers who have taken quirky paths and are clearly still trying to find their way. The origins of all Brazilians are very obscure.
