A collection of chamber music works that showcase Drezeke's skillful constructivenessFelix Drezeke was born at the same time as Brahms. After hearing "Lohengrin" in Weimar, he was so fascinated by the music that he decided to become an opera composer. Liszt also recognized his talent, and he became an ardent supporter of the New German School of Music. However, he did not achieve success with his works from these periods, and in 1862 he emigrated to Switzerland in search of a new home. While earning a living as a teacher, he produced symphonies and religious works. However, life in Switzerland became difficult, and in 1876 he returned to Germany, where he spent the last years of his life as a professor at the Dresden Conservatory, despite the fact that his hearing had been gradually declining since his youth. His compositional techniques, which changed during his time in Switzerland, reflect the counterpoint he had mastered, and his chamber works are in classical form. The Horn Quintet Op.48 on this album was composed in 1888. It has a symphonic sound with a unique and complex structure as well as a flamboyant quality. Drezeke showed a wealth of talent in chamber music during this period, and left behind a number of sophisticated works that include challenging wind instrument solos. King International
