She has also made her presence felt as a solo artist with "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough," a duet with Don Henley, and "Wish I Were You," which appeared on the soundtrack to the film Armageddon. I Were You," she will release her first studio album of all original songs in about 28 years. This is her first studio album since 1992's self-titled "PATTY SMYTH," IT'S ABOUT TIME.Recorded at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville, the album was produced by Dan Huff, who has also worked with Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Kelly Clarkson. Dan Hough's previous solo album featured country-tinged, rock-soulful vocals, and this album is a further development of that style. The theme of the album is "relationships. The album depicts her own experiences and those of others, from taking care of herself, to controlling her insecurities, to the rise and fall of life, to the problems and challenges she will have to face as her relationships change over the years. The album also includes songs such as "Drive" and "Build A Fire" that reflect on her marriage to professional tennis player John McEnroe in the late 1990s and her time away from the scene to raise children. The warm and gentle vocals of the songs reflect the maturity and fullness of her life. In the end, it's an album about relationships... It's a well of the heart filled with experiences, memories, and events over the years.I'm just writing about who I am and what's going on right now," Patti says of the album, which she describes as a "memoir" of sorts. I thought I could just sing and perform, but when I found out I could write my own songs, I was so happy," says the songwriter of six songs on the album. I still want to get better, and I think I need to train harder and move forward. My children, who have been my number one priority, are now grown and healthy, so I think it's time to put music back on top. IT'S ABOUT TIME" is my first studio album in about 28 years.
