Kelemen and Porat's good performances also shine! Master cellist Koppey releases Kodaly album! Marc Coppey is a talented cellist who is well known for his careful music making. In recent years, he has been actively releasing works on the German audite label. In this album, he takes on the challenge of Kodály. Kodály is one of Hungary's most famous composers. He is known as a composer who, in cooperation with Bartók, collected folk songs from his own country and used them as the basis for his own musical language. He left works in a variety of genres, but his works for cello are masterpieces that have become essential repertoire for contemporary cellists. His Sonata for unaccompanied cello is praised as a masterpiece of the 20th century, the highest acclaimed work of its kind since Bach's Suites. The cello sonata and sonatina with Matan Porat, an accomplished pianist well-known at La Folle Journée Festival and in Japan, and the duet with the Hungarian virtuoso Barnabás Kelemen are also noteworthy. Koppei's expressive performance of the Kodály is a new standard in the field of music. Coppey was born in Strasbourg. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, he won the first prize at the J.S. Bach International Competition at the age of 18, which brought him to the attention of the world. His subsequent career has been spectacular, and as a soloist he has performed with conductors such as Inbal, Clivine, Gilbert, and Yutaka Sado.He has had a distinguished career as a chamber musician, earning the trust of Piris, Belov, Dumay, Mullova, Payu, and others. As a member of the Ysaÿe String Quartet (1995-2000), he has made numerous recordings. He currently teaches at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and further expands his activities as artistic director of the Zagreb Soloists Ensemble. King International
