December 12, 2021; 2. October 24, 2016, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, 72:54 Christopher Rawls was born in Baltimore in 1949. He is a Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award winner. He was composer-in-residence of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra from 1986-89 and the New York Philharmonic's Marie-Josée Kravis Memorial Composer-in-Residence from 2012-15. He was the Marie-Josée Kravis Memorial Composer-in-Residence with the New York Philharmonic from 2012-15. He currently teaches at the Juilliard School. Heimdall is the Norse god of light.He is the owner of the horn, Galarhorn, and when this horn is sounded, ragnarok (the destruction of the gods) occurs. The title derives from this and is a dynamic composition. The Oboe Concerto was commissioned by the Minnesota Orchestra in 2004. The Bassoon Concerto consists of three traditional (rapid-modal-rapid) movements, and the orchestral part is modest and simple. (Tobu Shoji)
