Tiny Microphone

Tiny Microphone, the solo project of Kristine Capua of Tiny Fireflies and Very Truly Yours, releases her new sophomore album on vinyl with fastcut records and SHELFLIFE (USA), which is sure to be an indie pop classic! Tiny Microphone is the solo project of Kristine Capua, who also plays in the unit Tiny Fireflies with Lisle Mitnik and the indie pop band Very Truly Yours. The new sophomore album "Other Cities" is their first release as Tiny Microphone in 15 years, since the release of "Home" on cassette tape on Best Kept Secret in 2008. Reflection" is the common theme of the album, touching on the passage of time and the choices we have made or not made.In Tiny Fireflies, where he worked with Lisle Mitnik, he mainly played synthesizer, but during that stint he was looking for a reason to pick up the guitar. She decided to approach songwriting with the thought, "What kind of music would I make if I wasn't under pressure to write and sound good?" For this album, she went back to the nostalgic jangly pop style she grew up listening to. The fact that she left the band and moved from Chicago to Portland prior to the album's production had a lot to do with the album. The album opens with A1 "Back Then," a traditional-folk tune with a hint of The Tyde and Beachwood Sparks, followed by A2 "Sound Advice," a pure acoustic pop song reminiscent of the early Cardigans, and A4 "Holiday," a touching song with lyrics filled with sadness for the person you left, which was the first single. The warm and nostalgic guitar pop of A5 "Stranger," which features Ladybug Transister's Gary Olson as a guest, is a song about letting go of one's identity in the pursuit of success. The album closes with the ballad B1 "Lightning a Fire" with its subtle electro intro and tearful guitar phrases, the catchy indie-pop B4 "The Lake", reminiscent of Sweden's Alpaca Sports, featuring their friend Lisle Mitnik, and the album-closing B5 "I'll Be Back", which features the guitarist's voice and the lyrics of the song "I'll Be Back". The album closes with B5 "I Exist," a song about the realization of loneliness with layers of intricate harmonies. While the theme of sadness runs throughout the album, it also suggests a sense of contentment and hope afterward. This album is an indie-pop masterpiece with solid songwriting that shines even more evergreenly than the first album, and is one of the most iconic albums of the 2020s. Beautiful cover and lyric insert by Chad Clark, who is also a live member of the band, are also excellent.
