Given the musical depth and storytelling quality of this band, formed in Bournemouth, UK in 1990, it is truly a work with a message. It is a continuous narrative exploring creativity, sacrifice, and the precarious line between inspiration and madness. Avoiding pop-field tracks, it delivers a rich sound reminiscent of progressive rock's classic path, offering substantial listening reward. This limited edition CD+Blu-ray comes with a 32-page deluxe booklet and features a hardcover media book format. The Blu-ray includes audio mixed in Dolby Atmos & 5.1 surround sound by Sean Deeley at Sweetwater Studios. Comment from Gregory Spotton, one of the band's founders and bassist: 'Woodcut' is the story of a character we call 'The Artist', someone wrestling with creativity and life. One day, he succeeds in creating a woodcut that seems beautiful and different. It might be a dream, or it might be real life. Either way, he finds himself stepping into the scene within the woodcut, and into another world. In 'Woodcut', Alberto Blavin, formerly of PFM and welcomed as the new lead vocalist in November 2021, takes a leading role as producer, with all seven members contributing brilliantly. "This time, it's like a new statement of intent for this band.""Woodcut is a huge step forward for us," comments Blavin. He undertook the enormous task of editing and streamlining over 400 individually recorded tracks, piecing them together, linking them to the album's storyline, and considering thematic instrumental sections. "Having Alberto take over as producer gave me tremendous peace of mind," says Spotton, the last original member.
