Dallapiccola's Opera "The Prisoner" on SACD!Gianandrea Noseda has been the seventh Music Director of the Washington National Symphony Orchestra since 2017, and continues to make a major impact as one of the next generation of master conductors. He has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Stresa Festival (Italy), and will assume the position of General Music Director of the Zurich Opera in the 2021/22 season. During his tenure as music director of Teatro Regio, Noseda recorded a series of popular "Musica Italiana" series introducing unknown Italian music; this is his first release from Chandos in five years, and two collections of orchestral works were also recorded for "Musica Italiana, This is a collection of operas and two choral works by Luigi Dallapiccola (1904-1975), a 20th century Italian prodigy, who also recorded two orchestral works for Musica Italiana.The Prisoner (Il prigioniero), first performed by radio broadcast in 1949, is a one-act opera with a prologue and a libretto written by Dallapiccola himself from the works of French writer Villiers de Lirandin and Belgian writer Charles de Costel, using 12-tone technique and other techniques.
