This is Grimaud's first chamber music album with Sol Gabetta, a cellist born in Argentina to Russian-French parents, and features the same selection of the most important cello and piano works from the critically acclaimed program they performed together at the 2011 Menuhin Festival in Kushtadt. Sol Gabetta was born in Argentina in 1981 to Russian-French parents, and won the first prize at the age of 10 at the Argentinean competition, as well as the Swiss Romande Radio Association Prize in Geneva, the Natalia Gutman Prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and the Munich International In 2004, she won the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award and performed with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gergiev at the Lucerne Festival in 2004. Hélène Grimaud was born in Aix-en-Provence, France in 1969, and entered the Conservatoire de Musique in Aix-en-Provence at the age of 9.Moved to DG after working for DENON, ERATO/TELDEC.
