Description:

Spanish cellist Guadalupe Lopez-Iniguez (1983-), based at the Sibelius Academy at the Helsinki University of the Arts, makes his album debut with the baroque cello "Gabrielli, Scarlatti Complete Works for Cello" (ABCD412). His performance, which delves deeply into the elements of the works, was highly acclaimed. In her second album, produced in response to the positive reception, she performs works by Mendelssohn, romantic music for cello created by Claude Pierret in 1725, the same year as her previous album. Co-performer Olga Andrushchenko (1978-) was born in Moscow. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory, she studied with Arvo Waldma at the Cologne Conservatory and Vladimir Klinev at the Hannover University of Music, and lives and works in Germany. In search of a rich and warm atmosphere, an Erard piano from 1862 was used for the recording, with a sound that harmonizes with the baroque cello.
