Young Beethoven by young virtuosos! A remarkable project has begun! This is the first recording project of the complete Beethoven piano trios by the Van Beuret Trio. Minnaar, born in 1984, is a Dutch pianist who has won many international competitions, including the third prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. Minnaar has already released the complete Beethoven piano concerto cycle (CC-72763) on CHALLENGECLASSICS, which has been very well received. The Van Beuret Trio has also released a collection of Mendelssohn's piano trios (CC-72662). The future is very promising. The young Beethoven, who was studying with Haydn in Vienna, introduced to the world his three piano trios with "Opus No. 1". The composer's personality overflows in his ambitious use of sound, which is evident throughout, and in the way he closes the third and final piece with a heavy, Beethovenian C minor key. This CD includes Nos. 1 and 3.Also included is No. 4, "Songs of the City," which borrows melodies from popular opera arias of the time, and here we can hear a further evolution of the music of Gakusei.
