The Wave, a project by Graham Coxon (songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist for Blur) and Rose Ellinor Dougal (Mark Ronson collaborator and founder of The Pipettes). Their debut album, co-produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Falls, Haim), is now complete. Produced by The WAEVE and James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Florence & The Machine, Foals, HAIM) and recorded in London in early 2022, the album features songwriters Graham Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall, and the combined creative forces as The WAEVE allowed the two to push beyond their instrumental comfort zones. Many songs feature the saxophone, one of the first instruments Graham played in the 80s. The first single, "Can I Call You," begins as a ballad and morphs into a krautrock-style motoric number with Graham's guitar solo. Graham plays the cittern (a medieval folk lute) on "All Along," while Rose plays piano and the ARP2000 modular synth.The WAEVE recalls the raucous folk rock of Sandy Denny and John & Beverly Martyn, while "Kill Me Again" and "Over and Over" evoke the 70s rock of Kevin Ayers and Van der Graaf Generator. and Van der Graaf Generator. The WAEVE (pronounced "wave") is the new project of Graham Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall, one of the guitar heroes of his generation. In addition to his significant contributions to Blur, he is also well known for his nine solo albums released since 1998 and his work on critically acclaimed soundtracks. Rose Elinor Dougall is a singer-songwriter from London who has released three solo albums to date, including the new A New Illusion (2019). She has released three solo albums. She is also known for her work with Mark Ronson and Baxter Dury, among others.
