Following her collaboration with Southside Movement, a funk band also associated with Chicago, Jackie Ross released an extremely rare modern soul album in 1980, which is being reissued for the first time in the world! Jackie Ross (born in St. Louis), a female singer from Chicago, was recruited by Sam Cooke and made her debut on his SAR Records in 1962, and later sang with Syl Johnston's band, She later went on to record for Brunswick and others, and this album was produced by James Van Lear, a talented local producer, and released on his Golden Ears Records label in 1980.Starting with the most comfortable modern-crossover soul song "The World Needs More People Like You", the album also includes the groovy upbeat "I Who Have Nothing", a cover of the O'Jays' "You Got Your Hooks In Me", and a cover of the Stylistics' famous "Betcha By Golly Wow", which turned out to have the exact same backing track as the Love Lights' version from the same Chicago studio.
