Aki Takahashi

Description:

All five pieces of "Hashi" dedicated to Aki Takahashi, who has continued to play his works since shortly after the composer's debut. "Hashi", a series of piano pieces originating from a folk tale in Miyagi Prefecture that Soaki Sato heard as a child, was composed over eight years starting in 2000, and was dedicated to Aki Takahashi. The entire "Hashi" was created at the request of Aki Takahashi, who has been playing his works since shortly after Soaki Sato's debut, and recorded by Takahashi in a session recording in April 2023. Please listen to the clean and innocent world that Soaki Sato expresses with his music - a magpie's bridge over the impure world of twilight, passing the souls of the dead. <In 1973, he received the 1973 Art Festival Excellence Award for "The World of Aki Takahashi," a collection of 20 contemporary works from Japan and abroad. In 1975, together with Kuniharu Akiyama, he organized the "Erik Satie Concert Series," which became a great opportunity for the "rediscovery of Satie. In 1980, he was invited by Morton Feldman to visit the U.S. In 1984, he was a visiting professor at the California Institute of the Arts. In 1986, he received the first Kyoto Music Award, Practice Division Prize. In 2003, he received the 21st Kenzo Nakajima Award for his "Piano Dramatic" series, which began in 2002 at the Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tokyo, and has released a number of CDs. He has planned, produced, and performed the "Hyper Beatles" series, commissioning works based on Beatles numbers from leading contemporary composers around the world, and has completed four CDs. In 2006, his recital of Feldman's works in New York was named one of the best concerts of 2006 by the New York Times. For his performances of the CDs "Schubert: Sonatas for Piano" and "Morton Feldman: Trio," he was awarded the 2007 Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize. His CD "Dangerous Night: Aki Takahashi Plays John Cage" won the Excellence Prize at the 2008 Japan Arts Festival. In 2011, he was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon, and in 2014, the 23rd Asahi Contemporary Music Award. He is the author of "Parlando - My Piano Life" (Shunju-sha). Camerata Tokyo
