Spirals with the earth, spirals with the universe, spirals with music. Violin Concerto No. 2 "Spira Vitalis" was born in 2009, in which the principles of life are sensed through a whirlpool of sound. This ambitious work by composer Tokuhide Niimi, titled "Spira Vitalis" (Spira = Spiral, Vitalis = Life), combines the "spiral" found in all life forms, including the galactic system of the universe, the rotation and revolution of the earth, and the structure of DNA in the human body, in a musical form and concept. The album also includes two of Niimi's orchestral works ("Taiyo-kaze" and "Silence"). The CD features three vivid orchestral works by Tokuhide Niimi, whose vital sounds and rhythms envelop the listener. Camerata Tokyo
