Born in Moscow in 1956, Koshkin became familiar with music at an early age, preferring modern and contemporary pieces by Shostakovich, Stravinsky, and others, as well as rock. However, at the age of 14, his tastes changed dramatically when his grandfather gave him a guitar and a record by Andrés Segovia, and from then on he eagerly learned to play the guitar. His "24 Preludes and Fugues," released in 2017, is a work "dedicated to all guitarists of the world" that not only makes a remarkable contribution to the guitar repertoire, but also demands from the player a perfect mastery of technique and clarity of interpretation. Each piece is a well-balanced blend of classical and avant-garde techniques, sometimes incorporating jazz, rock, and Latin American rhythmic elements. The entire compositions are performed by guitarist Asya Sertina, Koshkin's companion and confidant, and are richly varied. The album includes preludes and fugues up to No. 12. Naxos Japan
