A collection of French songs with orchestral accompaniment] This is Sandrine Piau's first collection of French songs with orchestral accompaniment since her worldwide hit "Love is..." released in 2019. In the previous album, she performed with period orchestra, which is familiar to her, especially as a successful baroque singer, but this time she performs with modern orchestra, allowing us to enjoy her even more refined and broader range of expression. The Victor Hugo Orchestra conducted by Verdier, who also performed with her in "Light and Shadow," a collection of German songs, softly accompanies Piau's deep voice throughout the performance, beautifully portraying the world of each work clothed in a sense of floating, fragility, and mystery. The two Debussy works with orchestra alone are like a change of scene, and they have the effect of tightening up the entire album. This is a very elegant album that I recommend to not only song fans but also to a wide range of lovers of French music. Naxos Japan
