Description:
Russian composer Gregory Fried is best known for his monodrama "The Diary of Anne Frank. His works always reflect the unsettled social situation in his country, where he lost his family and was deported under the Stalinist regime. He wrote three symphonies, chamber music, instrumental music, film music, and dramatic music for radio programs, but his scores have been lost and are little known. This album features two chamber works recorded for the first time in the world. Both pieces are based on Fried's own style, in which a familiar melody occasionally appears amidst a heavy atmosphere influenced by Shostakovich. The quartet will be performed by Blumina, a pianist who specializes in modern Russian works, and the Vogler Quartet. Naxos Japan
