This disc was released in 2012 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Deelias' birth and the 50th anniversary of Ierland's death. Deelius' choral music is so outstanding that his patron Fenby said, "Deelius' finest works are in his songs and choral music. Here we hear songs with texts in German, his roots, as well as gems such as one of his best works, "On a Summer's Evening, Singing on the Water. A little later in his generation than Dilius, Ierland also loved choral works and wrote several introspective and mystical pieces. All of his works, including his most beloved masterpiece "The Holy Boy" (for which there are arrangements for various instruments), are full of quiet beauty. Naxos Japan
