Hiroshima-born Motohiro Nakajima’s first new release in five years is a beautiful classical folk album that delves deeper into the spiritual realm, building upon the elegant light of his previous work. Featuring guest appearances by marucoporoporo, ARAKIShin, and Kumi Takahara! Five years have passed since his previous album, *Gathering The Light*, which expressed the “light” gathered in the environment and memories through a colorful soundscape of acoustic instruments. Hiroshima-based guitarist Motohiro Nakajima now presents his latest work, *Sea of Thought*, which quietly explores the nature of the human spirit. At the core of this album lies the multi-layered theme of “environmental destruction and the end of capitalism.” The contradictions and feelings of powerlessness born of modern life, along with the process of sinking into the depths of consciousness, are structured as an endless journey of thought spanning 10 tracks. As with his previous work, the album centers on Nakajima’s fingerpicking guitar, while deepening his experimental approach by incorporating the gritty texture of flipper-tronics created using a cassette deck and his own custom-built instruments. The performances by guest artists—including ARAKIShin on brass and skillful arrangements, Kumi Takahara on strings, and marucoporoporo, who was featured on the lead single—highlight the ephemeral beauty that drifts at the edge of despair. Marking a shift from the graceful radiance of the previous work to a deeper spiritual realm, this is the pinnacle of modern classical folk. Released on semi-transparent colored vinyl.
